The pious and humanitarian Sufi mission of Jeelani Trust is taken forward also by a number of publications, and media platforms, including social media. The publication division of the Trust is aimed at producing books, periodicals, research journals and pamphlets; keenly attending to a global audience of multi-language bases, with special attention to the local language, Malayalam. With the central vision of spreading Sufi knowledge, perspective and guidance, the publications draw on a variety of themes and a wider outlook of human development and universal spiritual enlightenment, accessible to societies across the globe. Broadly, beyond the varied social media, the books, periodicals and journal underscore the growing relevance of the mission of Jeelani Shareef in the contemporary society, representing the message of the founding Sufi Guru, Holy Hazrat Quthbuzzaman, and the current leader, Sufi master Hazrat Naeb Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Nizamudhin Sulthan.
From the Sufi humanitarian vantage point directed by Holy Hazrat Naeb Quthbuzzaman, the Jeelani publications engage in and address the pressing issues of the current world, enriching knowledge and perspective and enabling peace and harmony. Although popular / shorter studies on Sufism, Islam and society form a major section of publications, the media & publication unit under Jeelani Trust also produces erudite academic research publications to provide proper Sufi vision and guidance to the global community.
Quthbuzzamān Māla:
The sacred biography and the Sufi mission and message of the Master Guru Holy Hazrat Quthbuzzaman Dr. Shaikh Sufi Muhammad Yousuf Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti.
This eulogy, written in Malayalam, is often prescribed as a ritual manual for personal recitation to achieve spiritual strength and inner peace. The 'Quthbuzzamān Māla' contains the life lessons, message, and guidance of Holy Hazrat Quthbuzzaman, dedicated to all of humanity. Narrating the hardships faced on the long path of pursuing knowledge and enlightenment, the 'Quthbuzzamān Māla' follows the tradition of ‘Muhyiddin Māla' (1607), the first vernacular Islamic text produced in Malayalam and the pioneering hagiographic poetry of the Qadiri Sufi order in the region. The Māla poetically presents the power of love in the Prophetic path, as well as the practical knowledge and embodied wisdom of Sufi tradition.
'Contemporary Sufi Talks'/ Sufi Varthamānam: Compendium of Expositions & Collection of Epistles
The words of wisdom and guidance in life, delivered by the master Sufis of the contemporary times, Holy Hazrat Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Yousuf Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti and Holy Hazrat Naeb Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Nizamudhin Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti. Presented as a volume of Collected Essays, serialized in the monthly periodical in Malayalam, Sathyasandesham (‘The Message of Truth’).
Kalām: collection of essays – the compilation of public speeches, Majlis sermons, counsels and advices to the disciples, conversations and interviews of the great Sufi master of our times, Holy Hazrat Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Yousuf Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti, the founder of Jeelani movement and the moral leadership from the modern global south. Kalām, as a compendium of corrective wisdom and guiding knowledge, stands truly as ‘The Master’s Counsel’ for the humanity. (Forthcoming).
Bāb / Baab: The Opening Expositions – the anthology of Sufi messages by the current master, Holy Hazrat Naeb Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Nizamudhin Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti, previously brought serially in the ‘Sathyasandesham’ Monthly. As the key note lead note by the supreme leader of Jeelani mission for humanity, Bāb / Baab: Sufi Varthamanam / Contemporary Sufi Talks, vol.1 (First edition, June, 2005) is a perfect ‘Epistle from the Master of Hearts’ to guide humanity to peace and unity. The first edition of the Vol.1 of the Sufi Expositions / Bāb -1 was released as an intellectual souvenir to the “Quthbuzzaman Khilafat 50th Anniversary” – 2nd June 2024. 2nd edition and the English version of the anthology is soon to be published, followed by Vol.2.
‘SATHYASANDESHAM’ Monthly:
A distinguished Sufi monthly periodical published in Malayalam by Jeelani Trust, ‘Santhyasandesham’, (‘The Message of Truth’) serves as the eloquent voice of Jeelani mission for Sufi social and ethical reform, dedicated to realize peaceful humanity and universal harmony. The printed magazine carries the moral and social ideals and values upheld by the Sufi Guru Hazrat Quthbuzzaman Shaikh Yousuf Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti and his Sufi successor and the patron of Jeelani Shareef – Kerala, Naeb Quthbuzzaman Dr. Sheikh Nizamudhin Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti.
Although the key language being Malayalam, ‘Sathyasandesham’ regularly includes articles and features in English, Arabic and Urdu, among other languages. Featuring essays on Sufism, religion and culture, contemporary commentary pieces, research articles, translations of classical Sufi writings, Sufi stories and poetry, ‘Sathyasandesham’ presents the readers with a plethora of refreshing ideas to inspire positivity and change. The monthly is assorted cues of moral guidance for the seekers, as well as short pieces of clear guidance and wisdom to the society for reform and renewal. The pivotal section of the Sufi monthly is devoted to ‘Kalām’, the transcribed version of the Sufi counsels, speeches and conversations – the ethical expositions by the holy Sufi Guru Hazrat Quthbuzzaman – the founder of Jeelani mission, and ‘Bāb’, the monthly social and moral message - the epistle of peace and guidance to the world from the current leader of Jeelani Sufi movement, the holy master Dr. Sheikh Nizamudhin Sulthan Shah Qadiri Chishti.
The magazine regularly covers the monthly message, ‘Sandesham’, from the President of the Jeelani Study Centre, Shaikh Ahmad Kabeer Sulthan, and ‘Soul-Note’ - a creative column in English delivered by the chief advisor of Nizamia educational venture, His Holiness Akbar Ali Sulthan. Based at Nizamia Institute-Cochin, with the creative crew of Nizamia research students and professional editorial board, the monthly Sufi journal of Jeelani Trust is published under H.H. Akbar Ali Sulthan, guided by the esteemed Chairman of the Trust, Holy Hazrat Naeb Quthbuzzaman.
As a literary- cultural publication of the Jeelani movement, published from Quthbuzzaman Jeelani Shareef – Kerala, Sathyasandesham Monthly also carries the news feature capturing the activities in Jeelani Shareef, reports and updates on the state-national-international campaigns and conferences held under Jeelani Study Centre, and covering the academic programmes and educational seminars and academic conferences held at Nizamia Institute. An informational and intellectual cultural magazine, ‘Sathyasandesham’ stands as an inspirational Sufi self-help like companion for those who seek practical guidance in personal and social moral life and positive insights for ethical futures for humanity.
MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS: Currently, the publication venture of Jeelani Trust covers various range of intellectual, educational and informational material, in practice and in process, in Malayalam and other languages – mainly English, Arabic and Urdu: 1) books, research monographs, edited volumes – of original essays and translations, research papers, academic journal, periodicals, and special pamphlets.
The publication ventures also progress towards facilitating more platforms of knowledge sharing and useful devices of education and reflection for a wider audience, by reproducing texts and A/V materials in the fast-growing digital communications platforms.
As a humanitarian Sufi movement with universal outlook, the public mission of Jeelani Trust is actively maintained also through social media. Most of the publications, especially Sufi messages of wider social relevance and critical salience, are re-produced in social media as a public commitment to knowledge and intellectual service to humanity.
